Hello to my Fellow Community Members,

My name is Krissy and I am a proud Newmarket resident and mom of 4. Our family is participating in The Run For Southlake once again this year and for the first time, our Team, Baby I Was Born To Run, will be championed by my 4 children. We are so excited to raise awareness and support the Maternal-Child Health Program, in order to benefit the very smallest patients cared for by the amazing frontline workers at Southlake. This year, it is our goal to be the largest and youngest Team ever to hit the pavement with our mindset being ‘Kids Helping Kids’.

As a brief background, I’ll share our motivation . In 2017, our twin boys entered our world 8 weeks early. They were unable to breathe independently and were rushed to the NICU for urgent care. Connor and Kyle experienced significant difficulties in many areas, but the team of doctors, nurses and therapists at Southlake were phenomenal and always remained compassionate. During our 26 days in the NICU, we watched the NICU team work miracles, not just with our children but for many other little ones as well. Their tireless effort and constant care for our most vulnerable and teeniest people is what drives us to give back and support future NICU families.

Beyond the amazing efforts made for our twins, Southlake delivers and cares for so many youngsters in our community. Many families, like ours, have benefited from Southlake within the many departments of the hospital. We are so grateful to have this incredible resource so close to home, but funding is extremely limited and our hospital relies heavily on community support and donations... please join us in supporting our incredible, hometown hospital… Southlake. 

This year, our children have set a goal to raise $8000 to support the NICU and the Paediatrics Department. It is our hope to have the youngest and largest team to hit the pavement! While that is a big target, we are committed to meeting our goal and invite you to join us. We would love to have you join our Team and help bring kids home… it takes a village and that village starts here!
