As some of you might remember, I participated in this run a couple years back in hopes of raising money for Southlake Regional Health Centre. This year I hope to repeat that tradition by fundraising and running to support Southlake in raising money for cancer research.
Cancer took the life of one of the most important people in my life, my dad. He was one of the most loving, caring and selfless people I have ever met. Not a day goes by where I don't think about him, miss him and wish he was here. Having said that, I know he is always by my side, cheering me on, just like he did when he was here with me. It is coming up on 12 years since he passed away, and I would like to continue to honour his life and his memory. He would love nothing more than to raise money for a great cause, so I am representing Team Brian once again!
While my dad was sick, he received tremendous care from Southlake, he had such lovely nurses and I have distinct memories of them always doing everything they could to keep my dad comfortable. There are so many individuals who have had to fight the same battles my dad did. I hope one day that we can find a cure that will ease the pain and suffering those individuals experience throughout their battles. Let's kick cancers butt, together!
To help reach that goal of one day finding that cure, I hope to raise a minimum of $500 towards that research and care for patients.
I would love if you could help me fundraise in order to reach my goal. If you are unable to donate, that is okay too, I appreciate any support!
Thank you!
Kirst :)
