“911, what’s your emergency?”
Those are words my mom never expected to hear connected to me.
On the way to Southlake Regional Health Centre, I lost consciousness three times. What no one knew yet was that my heart had a rare rhythm condition called Long QT Syndrome. If it is not diagnosed and treated quickly, it can be fatal.
Thanks to the fast response of Paramedics Tony and Neil, and the incredible cardiac teams at Southlake Regional Health Centre and SickKids, including Dr. Freedman, they were able to quickly figure out what was happening to my heart.
Because of them, I am here today.
I am healthy, I am thriving, and I am able to share my story so others know that help, hope, and life saving care are possible when you need it most.
Every second mattered that day. The right people, the right equipment, and the right hospital made all the difference.
That is why this story matters.
On Sunday, April 27, 2025, supporters are taking part in the Nature’s Emporium Run for Southlake to help ensure Southlake has the resources it needs to save lives like mine.
If my story means something to you, please consider supporting this incredible hospital.
Together, we can make sure Southlake is ready when the next emergency call comes in.
