“911, what’s your emergency?”
It’s a call no parent ever wants to receive. But on Saturday, March 30, 2019, I heard those words when my 10-year-old son, Jack, suddenly collapsed.
He lost consciousness three times on the way to Southlake Regional Health Centre, where Paramedics Tony and Neil, alongside the Southlake Cardiac Team and SickKids’ Dr. Freedman, quickly diagnosed Jack with Long QT Syndrome a rare heart rhythm condition that, if not treated immediately, can be fatal.
Because of Southlake’s rapid response and expert care, Jack survived. And today, he’s thriving sharing his story openly so that others can find hope in their own journey. Jack’s bravery continues to inspire me every day.
On Sunday, April 27, 2025, I’m volunteering for the Nature’s Emporium Run for Southlake as a proud member of Southlake’s new Community Cabinet. It’s my 5th year supporting this vital fundraiser because I know firsthand that Southlake saves lives.
